Lloyd E. Gouge

Mr. Lloyd E. Gouge of Nebo died in Christ in his 94th year of age on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at McDowell Hospital in Marion, North Carolina.  Mr. Gouge was born in Mitchell County, NC, on July 5, 1921, to the late Burnice and Essie Barnett Gouge.  An avid gardener, fisherman, and restorer of automobiles, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends, as well as the members of Hopewell Baptist Church, where he had faithfully worshiped for many years.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 48 years, Bertie Gouge; daughter, Donna Gregorits (Gene); son, Barry Gouge (Regina); daughter, Nancy Robinson; step-daughters, Sandra Budziszewski (J.) and Sherry Boothe (Luther); sister, Virginia Walstrum; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church in Morganton, with Revs. Danny Emory and Barry Gouge officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
