Linda McClure Shelton

Linda McClure Shelton, 75, of Marion, departed to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at her home. 

She was born in Gaston County on March 25, 1949 to the late Festus D. McClure and Georgia McKimsey McClure. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Morgan; and her lifelong partner, Bob Mashburn.

Linda enjoyed cooking, and she lovingly prepared meals for her family often. The regular Sunday dinners and holidays spent with her family created countless memories that will be cherished forever. Linda’s love for her family was evident in her daily life, and she found immense joy in being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she was very proud of. A passionate gardener, Linda delighted in tending to her yard, often spending time mowing and growing flowers. She was also a talented seamstress, and she loved canning fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed the moments spent bird watching and going on long drives with friends, finding beauty in the simple pleasures of life. Linda was a longtime, faithful member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church where she was deeply loved and cherished.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Sue Parker (Jimmy) and Doug Shelton (Donna); six grandchildren, Suzanne Webb (Robert), Chris Church (Chelsia), Marie Church (Tyler Scoles), Jonathan Braswell (Samantha), Jeremy Martino (Emily), and Savannah Shelton; her great-grandchildren, TJ, Abby, Briley, Oliver, Riley, Millie, Natalie, Elaina, Hudson, and Melanie; her brother, Donald McClure (Sharon); her special canine companions, Sam and Rosie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Sugar Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Michael Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
