Linda Crisson Haynes, age 80, of the Turkey Cove Community, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 26th surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in McDowell County on February 17, 1944 to the late Price and Mayme Hollifield Crisson. She was preceded in death by her infant twin brothers Ronald and Donald Crisson; brother, Price Wesley Crisson Jr.; and sister, Marie Coleman.
Linda was a loyal member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all that knew her. Her gentle spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
She is survived by the love of her life, Retired Sheriff Bob R. Haynes. They were married for 61 years on September 28, 2024. Together they have two children, Byron Haynes (Cindy) and Kim Davis; six grandchildren, Michael Haynes, Kasey Davis, Darren Haynes, Brandi Davis, Beth Searcy, Ammon Haynes; ten great grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise Creson (Wayne) and Joyce McKinney (Ralph).
She graduated with honors from North Cove High School in 1962. She worked in textiles for many years and retired from the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially loved traveling, camping and skiing.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to CarePartners Hospice McDowell, Memory Care of Asheville and all the family and friends who have cared and supported Linda during her illness.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 31st from 11am-1pm at the Beam Celebration Center. A private graveside service will follow at 3pm for family and close friends in the Haynes/Crisson Family Cemetery, located in the Turkey Cove Community.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Linda's memory to consider the Alzheimer's Association or CarePartners Hospice & Palliative Care McDowell.
