Leonard Carlton Gaddy

On the morning of Thursday, July 25, 2019, Leonard Carlton Gaddy, age 85, of Nebo, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side. A native of McDowell County, Leonard was born on April 19, 1934 to the late Willie Roscoe and Beulah Mae Little Gaddy.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Moody Gaddy who passed away on January 11, 2018; three brothers, James Gaddy, Paul Gaddy and Sidney Gaddy, Sr. and three sisters, Louise Gaddy, Addie Lee Biggerstaff and Fannie Maude Williams.

Leonard was a member of Nealsville Church of God and loved his church family and God. He was a lead welder at Marion Manufacturing Company in the maintenance department and later retired with thirty-two years of service. He loved working outside tending to his flowers and garden. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life.  

Leonard is survived by four children, Teresa Sowers (Roy), Tim Gaddy (Denise), Darryl Gaddy (Emilie) and Karen Guffey; seven grandchildren, Matthew Sowers (Andrea), Taylor Sowers, Brandon Gaddy (Tiffany), Zachary Gaddy (Jessica), Michelle Thompson (Josh), Jayme Guffey (Kendra) and Jeremy Guffey (Caycee Wilson). Also surviving Leonard are five great grandchildren, Rylan Guffey, Peyton Gaddy, Brooklee Gaddy, Mia Gaddy and Ashley Turner and three great-grandchildren are on the way.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Nealsville Church of God with Pastor Travis Cooke and Doug Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Nealsville Church of God Cemetery.
