Lawrence David Peters, age 54, of Black Mountain, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville. A native of Burke County, North Carolina, born July 07, 1963, he was the son of the late Mary Baird Peters and Vernon Peters of Nebo.
A veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard, Lawrence was known to be a hard worker. An excellent cook who had a heart of gold, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife, Dolly Peters of the home; seven children, William Peters of the home, Amanda Shufford (Johnny) of Morganton, April Davis (Terry) of Morganton, Anthony Peters (Candice) of Marion, Austin McIntosh of Morganton, Heather Watson (Christopher) of Black Mountain; and Amanda Pace of Icard; four siblings, Max Peters (Donna) of Morganton, Cynthia Ford (Danny) of Morganton, Marty Peters of Morganton; and Vernon Peters of Morganton. Lawrence is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church on East Parker Road in Morganton with Pastor Dewayne Buchanan officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. A private interment will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mitchell County.
