Larry "Gene" Waldroup

Larry “Gene” Waldroup, age 69, of Marion, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2019 at his residence with his loving family by his side following a 7-year battle with cancer.  The son of the late Roby and Maybell Price Waldroup, he was born in Madison County, North Carolina on July 22, 1949.

An avid sportsman, he truly enjoyed playing golf and softball.  Gene, who was loved by many, was also known for his talent of working with wood.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted significant other, Donna Mace; one son, Ricky Waldroup; one daughter, Jody Shenton; four sisters, Lucille Rollins (George), Frances Norton (Glenn), Katty Hunter (Kenneth) and Betty Jo Taylor (Dale); two brothers, Bobby Waldroup (Hazel) and Tommy Waldroup (Barbara); four grandchildren, Dakota Waldroup, Wesley Shenton, Haley Shenton and Jeremiah “Nathan” Bartlett, Jr.; several nieces and nephews, and other extended family members. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Spring Creek (Madison County) with Rev. Gregg Warren and Rev. Albert Roberts officiating.
