Larry Dean Ballard

Larry Dean Ballard, 65, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, December 05, 2021 at his residence.

He was born in McDowell County on November 01, 1956 to Alice Faye Ballard Lowery and the late Clinston Lowery.

Larry retired from the City of Marion as the manager of the water department. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed wrestling and watching westerns and the Three Stooges with his family. He loved to fish at Santee Cooper in South Carolina. Larry liked camping with his late wife, Hazel Ballard.

He is also preceded in death by a brother, Harlen Glen Lowery.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by four children, Betty Jo Ballard, Robert “Bobby” Ballard, Bobby Greene (Tina), and Eddie Greene (Linda); six grandchildren, Anthony Greene (Brittany), Bobby Greene, Jr. (Jessica), Jessica Woody (Chad), Amber Helton (Jesse), Sarah Ballard, and Daniel Ballard; seven great grandchildren, Zachary, Adam, Carlie, Haley, Arianna, Madison, and Kinsley; and two sisters, Barbara Crowder and Betty Gouge (Scott).

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 08, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
