Kelly Dean McKinney, age 45, of Nebo, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, January 09, 2018. The son of Calvin and Brenda McKinney of Nebo, he was born in Burke County, North Carolina on December 06, 1972.
A loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and known as a strong and solid “big” brother, Kelly was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and was a Red Sash (high level) in Wing Chun martial arts. For over 14 years he had worked in banking management. A member of East Marion Baptist Church, Kelly had served as a former Elder and Director of Youth.
Kelly, who will be missed by all, is survived by, in addition to his parents, loving wife of 24 years, Tammy McKinney; three children, Ansley Patrick (Dallas), Brenna English (Tristan) and Connor McKinney; one grandson, Landry Ray Patrick; one brother, Scotty McKinney (Sharon); paternal grandmother, Ellie McKinney; and mother-in-law, Pat Mew. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at East Marion Baptist Church with Rev. Andrew Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
