Kathy Stamey

Kathy Staton Stamey, age 62, of Spruce Pine, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Mitchell House.  A native of Mitchell County, Kathy was born September 22, 1953 to the late Ronald Staton, Sr. and Lorene “Tootsie” Staton of Spruce Pine.  In addition to her father she was also preceded in death by her husband Wade Stamey, a daughter Anna Taylor, brother Ronald Staton, Jr., and sister Dorothy Regina Staton.

Kathy was known for her great memory. She also enjoyed reading and had a love for crafts. Her love for her family was evident, especially her nieces and nephews who she enjoyed most of all. Kathy was also a member of Nebo Crossing in Marion.

In addition to her mother, Kathy is survived by her son David Taylor; sisters Shirley Cook and husband Jerry; Debbie Franklin and husband Doug; one brother Reverend Ken Staton and wife Barbara; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to honor Kathy’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Gouges Creek Baptist Church in Spruce Pine with the Reverends Tommy Thomas and Ken Staton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church. Interment will follow at Gouges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
