Judy Rhea Hughes

Judy Rhea Miller Hughes, age 67, of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Carolinas HealthCare System-Blue Ridge in Morganton.  The daughter of the late Howard and Melba Young Miller, she was born in Mitchell County, North Carolina on January 22, 1952. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, George Miller; and one sister, Janice Strange.

A loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Judy retired from Ethan Allen in Old Fort following many years of service.  She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church in Bakersville, North Carolina.

Judy is survived by one son, Curtis Hudgins (Stephanie); one brother, Guy Miller; three sisters, Joyce Stamey, Jeanette Letterman and Joann Frye; three grandchildren, Katelyn Ezell (Taylor), Lauren Hudgins and Laynie Hudgins; and two great grandchildren, Oaklen and Myles Ezell.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Bear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
