Judith Anne Keller West, of Marion, was born December 11, 1938 and passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
She was the daughter of Joseph Keller and Virginia Pierpont Keller Hamilton and the stepdaughter of Herbert Hamilton. She was raised in a blended family and was the eldest of nine children. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Hoyt John West, her son Michael West, her stepbrother Raymond, and her sister Lucille.
She is survived by her children: daughter Cheryl (Mike) and son Ryan (Aleigha); grandchildren William “Billy” (Susan), Michael (John), Jacqueline (Howard), Sophia, and Noah; and great-grandchildren Kiley, Samuel, Josie, and Phillip. She is also survived by three sisters: Patricia, Lorraine, and Carol; step-sister Linda; and half-sister Maureen. She is also survived by two stepbrothers, Douglas and Robert.
She began working at the age of 14, working after school as a kitchen helper and doing housekeeping at Saugus General Hospital. She graduated from Saugus High School in Massachusetts and Felt and Truant Business School in Boston and studied at Essex and Middlesex Community Colleges. After graduating high school, she got a waiver to work as a secretary at the VA Hospital in Boston, MA, as she was not yet 18. After marriage, she stayed actively employed with several Fortune 500 companies, including GE and Berkshire Hathaway.
She retired from Dupont Radiopharmaceuticals Customer Service Division and, after retirement, remained actively employed as a licensed realtor in Massachusetts and a Notary Public. She also did bookkeeping and billing at home for several local contractors.
She was raised in and provided a loving home environment. That trait has been passed down through the generations, and it still continues. Her home, an ever-welcoming hub of family and friends, led her to often say, “My home is like Grand Central.” She happily welcomed all visitors with a cup of coffee, tea, home-cooked meal, or snack. She would sing, “So this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.” Often in conversation, she would wind up saying, “So, that's my story!”
She will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, Massachusetts, beside her husband Hoyt and son Michael.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at West Court Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at noon at the church with Pastor Jeff Burchette officiating.
