Juanita Brooks, age 86, of Connelly Springs, North Carolina, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Carolinas HealthCare System-Blue Ridge in Morganton. Born in Lexington, Kentucky on January 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Otis Lee Duncan and Julia Haus.
A proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Juanita was dedicated to her family and friends. Everyone she came in contact with, she loved them and they loved her. She had a place in her heart for animals and enjoyed traveling. Juanita, following many years, retired from Autumn Care of Drexel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Cole Grimes and Lucille Duncan; and two brothers, Richard Blevins and Glen Duncan.
Left to cherish her memories are one daughter, Anita Buff; one son, James Ott; one sister, Kathy McIntosh and her husband, Robert; five grandchildren, Valerie Lowery, Jennifer Caustrita, Alicia Buff, Michael Buff and Kimberly Ott; and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 901 Bethel Road, Morganton, North Carolina.
