Joyce Rose

Joyce Anderson Rose, age 82, of Morganton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare System-Blue Ridge in Morganton.  A native of Pike County, Kentucky, born June 27, 1935, she was the second oldest of eleven children to Theodore and Stella Garris Anderson. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Johnny Anderson; one sister, Reda Bruner; and one great granddaughter, Natalia Hernandez.

A loving mother, grandmother and sister; along with the Lord, one of Joyce’s greatest treasures in life was her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.  A longtime member of New Manna Baptist Church in Marion, Joyce retired from the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton. 

She is survived by her four children, Donna Greene of Morganton, North Carolina, David McDaniel (Jeannie) of West End, North Carolina, Mike McDaniel (Nikki) of Marion, North Carolina and Ashley Rose Cunningham of Franklin, North Carolina; sixteen grandchildren, Dustin, Brandon, Kristen, Leah, Stefan, Alyssa, Cara, Nolan, Braden, Chase, Hope, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John Michael and Annabelle; and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Betty Booz, Dorthy Whisnant, Mary Rothermel, Juanita Webb, Eddie Anderson, Charlene Anderson and Ricky Anderson; along with many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at New Manna Baptist Church with Pastor Matt McDaniel officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
