Joyce Ann Mace

Joyce Ann Mace, age 79, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at her residence.  The daughter of the late Ferb and Leah Garland Smith, she was born in McDowell County on October 14, 1939. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Smith; and two sisters, Mary Helen Miller and Martha Murray.

Known as being a very loving and caring person, Joyce was a self-taught artist and could do a number of different crafts.  She had a love of music and traveling with her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Charles; one niece, Becky Blakeley; six nephews, Tim Murray, Jona Murray, Keith Miller, Michael Smith, Kenneth Smith and Paul Smith; one great niece, Leah Blakeley; one brother-in-law, Norris Murray; three sisters-in-law, Betty Smith, Patricia Coltelluccio and Carol Gregorio; and a number of cousins.  She is also preceded by two canine companions, which is loved dearly, “Tiny” and “Jake”. 

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home. 

A private committal service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery.
