Joyce Coffey

Joyce Anderson Coffey, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Mission Hospital McDowell.  A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born June 3, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Polly Biggerstaff Anderson. 

Joyce, who had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to sew and crochet, she was known to have made several dresses from scrap.  She enjoyed fishing and spending quality time with her family. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin D. Williams; her second husband, E. C. Coffey; and one granddaughter, Makayla Stevenson.

Left to cherish her memories, three daughters, Sharon Williams, Kathy Williams and Rebecca Williams; one son, Stoney Coffey; one sister, Joan Strickland; five grandchildren, Jared Williams, Melissa Stevenson, Luke Phillips, Sarah Phillips and Daniel Bradley; and five great grandchildren, Lily Williams, Laney Williams, Dewey Stevenson, Seth Bradley and Gatlin Bradley.  Joyce is also survived by one nephew, David Cauthen; and one niece, Barbara Arney.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
