Josie Davis

Josie Jenkins Davis, age 83, of Casar, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at her residence with her loved ones by her side.  The daughter of the late Rosie and Riley Waldroup, she was born in Bryson City, North Carolina on June 01, 1936.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cleveland Henson (1979); four children, Dywan Henson, Darwin Henson, Lavonne Thomas and George Henson; one granddaughter, Lynn Henson; and three brothers, Bruce Waldroup, Clifford Waldroup and Harvey Waldroup. 

Josie, who had a big heart, never met a stranger.  She was known to have helped many and would certainly take care of others before herself.  In fact, several people would call her “mom”.  Her first love was the Lord, her family and then her friends.  She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Casar, North Carolina. 

Left to cherish her precious memories are her husband, Ray Davis of the home; one daughter, Susan Cable and her husband, Ernie of Robbinsville, North Carolina; and one brother, Ernest Waldroup of Marion, North Carolina.  Josie is also survived by six grandchildren, Mark Cable, Rebecca Lail, Anna Cable, John Causby, Josie Reese and Emily Ollis; and eleven great grandchildren, Destinee Cable, Samuel Cable, Hazel Cable, Benjamin Lail, Caleb Lail, Serenity Lail, Dawn Ollis, Jayden Causby, Bella Causby, Riley Reese and Haley Reese. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Pastor Homer Tessner and Brother Ernie Cable officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Cleveland.   The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
