Joshua Wayne McGee

Joshua Wayne McGee, age 33, of Morganton, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.  Born in Burke County, North Carolina on October 27, 1986, he was the son of Henry McGee of Marion, North Carolina and Donna Hampton McGee of Valdese, North Carolina. 

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Wheeler and Betty Hampton; paternal grandparents, Laura E. McGee and Theodore Smith; step-paternal grandmother, Virginia Morgan; and his canine companion who was his “buddy”, Ariel.

A wonderful husband, father, son and brother, Joshua adored his “boys”, Marcus and Lucas, more than anything.  A 2005 graduate of Freedom High School he was a member of the JROTC where he served as Battalion XO.  Anytime he had the opportunity, he would enjoy a plate of macaroni and cheese, real mashed potatoes and of course, his chocolate milk.  He was an avid motorcycle rider and playing video games.  Joshua was a nonactive member of Parkers Chapel Church in Marion.

He is survived by, his wife, Ashley McGee; two sons, Marcus Zebadiah McGee (12) and Lucas Daniel McGee (10); father, Henry McGee (Carolyn); mother, Donna Hampton McGee; and six siblings, Kimberly Williamson (Chris), Melissa Strickland, Sonia Strickland, Shana Strickland, Toney McGee and Katrina Strickland.

A celebration of Joshua’s life will be held on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at Dysartsville Baptist Church with Pastor John Cope officiating.
