Joseph Suggs

November 24, 1960 — June 3, 2018

 

Joseph Suggs, age 57, of Candler, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System-Blue Ridge in Morganton.  A native of Horry County, South Carolina, born November 24, 1960, he was the son of Carolyn Williams of Maxton, North Carolina and the late Joseph W. Suggs. 

 

A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Joseph enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking with his family.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

 

Mr. Suggs is survived by, in addition to his mother, his wife of 36 years, Susan Chapman Suggs of the home; five children, Joseph Suggs (Kimberly) of Wasilla, Alaska, Savannah Johnson (Joshua) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Nicole Suggs of Durham, North Carolina, Stephanie Day (William) of Candler, North Carolina and Matthew Suggs of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sisters, Kelisa Folk of Newport, Pennsylvania and Veronica Williams of Maxton, North Carolina; two brothers, Alex Williams of Maxton, North Carolina and James Williams of Laurinburg, North Carolina.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Josalyn Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Olivia Suggs, Huck Suggs, Alex Day, Jasmine Day and Liam Suggs; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

In keeping with Joseph’s wishes, a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
