Johnny Alvin "Al" Ward

Johnny Alvin Ward of Marion, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at his residence.

Al was born in Marion, North Carolina on June 2, 1931 to the late Clarence Woody Ward and Hessie Morgan Ward. Al worked in the furniture industry as a molding machine operator. He retired from Drexel Furniture after 36 years of service. Following retirement he enjoyed working with his cattle and farming. Al was a member of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Al is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Williams Ward; two Children, Janet Ward Vess (David) and Joel Ward (Kim); two Grandchildren, Rachel Weathers (Kemp) and Jennings Vess (Karlee); one great-grandchild Allee Weathers and one on the way.

A funeral service will be held Sunday December 5, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Rev. Alan Sailors officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rocky Pass FWB church cemetery.
