Johnny Duane Lipe

 Johnny Duane Lipe, 64, of Old Fort, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Solace Center in Asheville.

 Johnny was born in McDowell County, NC, on July 17, 1960 to Verdie Elizabeth Stevens and the late George Gilbert “G.G.” Lipe. Johnny was a very kind hearted man who never knew a stranger. He was known to do anything to help someone in need. He enjoyed working in his yard and was an expert of many types of roses. Johnny loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar. Most of all, Johnny loved his mother. He lovingly took care of her until his own decline in health. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

 In addition to his father, Johnny was preceded in death by his step-father, Bill Propst; and a brother, Von Lipe.

 Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Verdie Propst; a son, Johnny Lipe (Tamara); a granddaughter, Destiny; four aunts, Shirley Laws, Cindy Johnson (Tommy), Rita Barnett, and Myrna Greene; his close friends, Paco & Sadie, and Ken & Michelle; a host of other friends; numerous cousins; and his beloved dog, Shade.

 A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
