Johnnie G. Pyatt

Johnnie G. Pyatt, age 81, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, June 06, 2017 at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville.  A native of McDowell County, Johnnie was born on July 18, 1935, to the late Murray Frank Pyatt, and Sudie Marie Morgan.

Johnnie loved fishing and tending to his garden. As his children were growing up, he enjoyed coaching their sports teams. Johnnie attended Garden Creek Baptist Church, and was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, Johnnie is preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Hollifield Pyatt, who passed away February 08, 2017; and two sons, Frank and Glenn Pyatt.

Johnnie is survived by a daughter, Martha Dorsey (Tommy), and a daughter in law, Kathy Pyatt. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Whitney and Caitlin Pyatt, and Tyler and T.J. Dorsey (Margaret); as well as four great grandchildren, Emily Feaster, Amaris, Alleora, and Ethaniel Dorsey.

A funeral service to honor Mr. Pyatt’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 10, 2017, in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Coy Jeans and Dr. Larry Gregg officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
