John J. Yoder

John J. Yoder, age 81, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully with loved ones at his side shortly after 12 o’clock noon on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills SECU Inpatient Unit in Forest City, North Carolina.  The son of the late John Jay Yoder and Ruth Mathis Yoder McKinney, John was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on June 13, 1939.

A loving and amazing husband, father, grandfather and brother, John was an avid deer hunter.  He was known as having been the “fix it all” guy.  Following 31 years, he retired from General Electric Company (GE) in Hickory. 

Mr. Yoder is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 55 years, Lola Yoder; one daughter, Michelle Yoder VanHall and her husband, Rob; two grandchildren, Jacob Christenbury and Hannah Yoder; one brother, Will McKinney and his wife, Joan; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
