John Robert Wright

September 11, 1949 — November 15, 2019

 

John Robert Wright, age 70, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away at Autumn Care of Marion with his loving family by his side on Friday, November 15, 2019.  A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born on September 11, 1949, he was the son of the late Robert and Ruby Joe Minish Wright. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Fender, Charlotte Swafford and Deborah Woods. 

 

A veteran of both the United States Marines and United States Army, he served for a total of 11 years.  An avid fisherman, John loved guns, but most of all, he loved his family. 

 

John is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Diane Clevenger Wright of the home; two daughters, Myloni Price of Waynesville and Alaya Wright of Marion; three sisters, Peggy Wright of Charlotte, Julia Duncan of Spring Hill, Florida and Katie Davis of Marion; one brother, Charles T. Wright (Melissa) of Marion; and two grandchildren, Kyleigh Price and Heidi Price.  He is also survived a number of nieces and nephews, mother-in-law, Hilda Clevenger Oglesby and her husband, Charles; sister-in-law, Lisa Clevenger Bain (Les); and special friends, Ritchie Guffey (Jacqueline), Michael Mitchell and Larry Mitchell.

 

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service in Marion.
