John Mark Watkins

     John Mark Watkins, 69, of Marion, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at UNC Healthcare Blue Ridge in Morganton.

     John was born in Mecklenburg County, NC, on April 29, 1954, to the late George Washington Watkins and Mildred Marie Dalton Watkins. John was a loving husband father and grandfather. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and golfing. Every year, John ventured out to dig ramps.

     In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by five siblings, George Watkins, Danny Watkins, Mechab Watkins, Sandra Williams, and Kay McGee.

     He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Karen Stockton Watkins; two children, Allison Anne Holt (Jeff) and Elijah Watkins (Brittany); a brother, Frank Watkins; a sister, Roxie Pearson; three grandchildren, Rion Watkins, Nick Hudson, and Emily Hudson; and two great grandchildren, Xander and Waylon.

     In keeping with John’s wishes, no services will be held.
