John Thompson

John Thompson, age 62, finished his work here on earth and went to his eternal rest on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kathy Thompson; his wife Beverly Thompson and her children, Jennifer Agbaeze, Anna DeBoyace, and Nathan Ollis; nine grandchildren; and his brother, Jim Thompson and his wife Sarah

The family invites City and County Officials, former and present Mission Board members and staff, Mission supporters, and clients past and present, who have been impacted by John’s vision and hard work - McDowell Mission Ministries, to join them at Garden Creek Baptist Church in Marion on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. for a service of worship and celebration of the life of this humble child of God with a big heart who had a vision for the homeless and needy in McDowell County.  Reverend William Warren will be leading the worship.

The family members will receive friends an hour prior to the service. A celebration luncheon will follow the service at the church. Shelter residents and the community are invited.
