John Clarence Noblitt, Jr. (Johnny), age 60, surrounded by his loving family, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at his residence in Nebo. A native and lifelong resident of McDowell County, North Carolina, Johnny was born June 30, 1956 and was the son of the late John and Tillie Mills Noblitt.
Johnny took great pride in raising and training German Shepherd dogs, restoring and driving antique cars; and enjoyed reading and watching anything that pertained to westerns. In his spare time, he loved cruising on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting and fishing, but most of all, he loved traveling and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Mary Berry; and four brothers, Ray, Charles, Herman and Harold Dean.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 30 years, Sheila Davis Noblitt; four sons, Joe Noblitt and wife Mandy, Travis Noblitt and wife Krystal, Joshua Noblitt and wife Kaylynn and Christian Noblitt; and four sisters, Alice McKinney, Linda Collins, Mable Stratton and Jewel Mahan. He is also survived by his six loving grandchildren, Christin, Jonathan, Tillie, Dillon, Bryson and Atticus Noblitt; one great grandson, Maddox Wall; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Chaplain Cy Miller (Rutherford Hospice) officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
