John Kirk May, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the SECU Inpatient Unit of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City. A resident of Spindale, John was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 4, 1949 and was the son of the late Thomas and Jean Duncan May.
A member of the Paul Harris Fellow, John was past president of the Rotary Club of Forest City; and a member of Sons of The American Revolution (NSSAR). Mr. May was a former Eagle Scout and, at one time was the District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America. Active in many other organizations, John also had his private pilot license and proudly enjoyed flying with his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 48 years, Brenda Laney May of the home; two sons, John Thomas May of Brodnax, Virginia and James Vernon May of Spindale; one grandson, William Thomas May; one brother, Kerry Thomas May (Renee) of Norfolk, Virginia; and a number of nieces and one nephew.
