John Henry Godfrey, Jr.

     John Henry Godfrey, Jr., 58, of Marion, passed away, Sunday, December 25, 2022, at his residence.

     John was born in Marion, NC, on March 20, 1964, to Sarah Brown and John Henry Godfrey, Sr. He was a professional corrections officer who retired from the NC Department of Public Safety after 25 years of faithful service. John was a man of nature who loved hiking and loved animals. He was an avid Trekkie who loved Star Trek and science fiction, in general. He was an honorable man of God who believed that the world should never be taken for granted. John had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed laughter. Most of all, John loved and adored his family. He will be greatly missed.

     Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 18 years, Latoya Godfrey; his father, John Henry Godfrey, Sr.; his mother, Sarah Brown; three children, Jessica Watkins (Chris), Nialiasha Godfrey, and Anastasia Godfrey; three sisters, Deanna French (Craig), Laurie Wood (Rockey), and Melodi Parker (Alan); two brothers, Jeffrey Godfrey and Charles Godfrey; three grandchildren, C.J., Isaiah, and Noah; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his cat, Jinx.

     The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2022, at Beam Funeral Service. The family requests those in attendance to wear something comfortable and casual.
