John David Hodge

John David Hodge, loving husband, father and grandfather, while surrounded by his loving family, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at his residence in Marion at the age of 66.  The son of the Ruth Wilson Hodge of Marion and the late John W. Hodge, Jr., he was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on July 29, 1951. 

A loyal friend to many, David was an avid sports enthusiast and was a fan of the New York Yankees, North Carolina Tar Heels and the Washington Redskins.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Teresa Helms Hodge; one son, Chris Hodge (Shaina); two sisters, Carolyn Baynard (Don) and Teresa Workman (Mark); one grandson, Hunter Hodge; and two step-grandchildren, Koby Smith and Cassidy Smith; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion.  A celebration of his life will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Mike Zullo officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the United States Army.
