Joanne Young

On the night of Monday, March 15, 2021, Joanne Port Young, age 79, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.  Born in Georgetown, South Carolina on August 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Molly Etheridge Port.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Jackson David Young; one son, Jackson David Young, Jr.; and one daughter, Kimberly Ellen Young.

Joanne enjoyed reading and watching CNN.  Having been a registered nurse for many years, it did her heart good to help others. She loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her son, who was her pride and joy, Jeffery Port Young (Donetta); two sisters, Sandra Strickland and Charmin Maddix; three brothers, Mike Port, David Port and Donnie Port; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and her canine, “Annie”, who was her sidekick and buddy. 

A graveside service will he held at a later date.
