Joan Margaret Cammer Smith

Joan Margaret Cammer Smith, 75, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, July 02, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was originally from Charleston, South Carolina, born on March 03, 1947 to the late Newton Jennings Cammer and Margaret Smith Cammer.

Joan worked as a paralegal with the Social Security Administration. She was a faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Church and truly loved her church family. She had a heart for all children.  Joan liked reading, and she received joy by sitting on the porch looking at the mountains or being with friends. Her dog Lizzi was very special to her as well.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Taylor; granddaughter, Tarah Smith; and her brother, Richard Cammer.

She leaves behind her husband Richard Wayne Smith; her son, Richard Wayne Smith, II; and three grandchildren, Austin Lee Spann, Andrew Michael Smith (Hannah), and Grace Elizabeth Owens-Gaughan.

The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, July 09, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Maranatha Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Brenneman officiating.
