Jimmy Ethaniel South

Jimmy Ethaniel South, 24, of Morganton, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at his residence.

He was born in McDowell County on July 22, 2000. He was known by both “Jimmy” and “Ethan” to family and friends. Ethan was a kind-hearted soul who was always happy. He was a very family-oriented person who enjoyed sharing time with them doing outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and camping. His children were the light of his life. Ethan had a very outgoing personality, and he enjoyed rapping. He was loved by all and will be remembered for his beautiful smile.

He was preceded in death by many people who were special to him. These include Learah, Evelyn, Gean, Mamaw Sheila, Granny Davis, Doua, Papa Jim, Jackie, Mama Sue, and Rebekah.

He is survived by his father, Billy Ray South; mother, Mary Yang; adopted parents, Lucy Yang and Jerry Thor; his children, Zayden and Aspyn; siblings, Bella, Emma, Tayo, Theodore, and Kaley; grandparents, Xiong and JJ; numerous cousins; and several aunts and uncles who were like bonus parents to him.

Services will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Freedom Life Ministries.
