Jimmy Augustus Parker, Sr., 88, of Marion, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 8, 2025
He was a native of McDowell County born on May 28, 1936 to the late Spurgeon Parker and Grace Proctor McGuigan. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Jane Crouse and his grandson, Timothy C. Parker.
Jimmy served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a member of West Court Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. Jimmy loved his family especially his grandkids, but above all he loved the Lord.
Surviving Jimmy are his wife of sixty-six years, Alice H. Parker; two children, Charles G. Parker (Johnsie) and Jimmy A. Parker, Jr. (Sue); a sister, Kim Waller; two brothers Michael McGuigan (Susie) and Scott Parker; three grandchildren, Jessica Parker (Tim Hudgins), Alex Parker (Claire) and Ethan Parker (Kaitlyn) and three great grandchildren, Tanner Parker, Taylor O"Dear and Teagan Parker.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Jeff Burchette officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
