Jimmy R. Johnson

Jimmy R. Johnson, age 73, of the Golden Valley Community, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at his residence.  Born May 16, 1942 in Harnett County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Dewey and Lela Culbreth Johnson.

Jimmy was a devoted member of Hillcrest Free Will Baptist Church where he also served as a long time Deacon.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six siblings, Clarence Johnson, Lester Johnson, Mazie Coore, Magdeline Smith, George Johnson and Earl Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Imogene Wilson Johnson; one daughter, Martha Wester and husband, Mark; three grandchildren, Christopher Wester and wife, Allysa, Victoria Buchanan and husband, Steven; and Abbey Wester; three great grandchildren, Brandon Wester, Alexandria Wester and Cameron Buchanan; one brother, Arthur Johnson and wife Brenda; four sisters, Sue Smith and husband Rodney, Faye Hair and husband Chet, Mary Woodard and husband Ron, Lela Raynor; and a number of very special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Free Will Baptist Church in Nebo with Revs. Bud Edwards and Bobby Revis officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
