Jewell Haynes

Jewell Greenlee Haynes, age 93, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Autumn Care of Marion.  A native of Mitchell County, NC, born January 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Jason and Maggie Loven Greenlee.  A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Jewell enjoyed quilting and reading.  She is preceded in death by, in addition to her parents, husband, Milton Haynes; infant son, Wayne Haynes and two daughters, Virginia Burnette and Linda Cook. 

Jewell is survived by two sons, Jimmy Ray Haynes and wife, Brenda of Shelby and Bobby R. Haynes and wife, Linda of Marion; two daughters, Mary Ann Murray and husband, John of Griffin, GA and Jane Ricker and husband, James of Marion; one sister, Nuree Burnett of Hudson, Fla.; sixteen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren and twenty one great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Haynes will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church with Revs. Chad Wise and Archie Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
