Jewel Alice Angel Walker, age 91, of Marion, peacefully departed this life on Thursday evening, December 19, 2024 at Autumn Care of Marion.
Jewel was born in Franklin, North Carolina on October 3, 1933 to the late Paul Homer Angel and Alma Irene Sanders Angel.
She was formerly employed at Rose’s for a number of years. Prior to that, she enjoyed babysitting for a period of time. Jewel attended East Marion United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher. She had a love for arts and crafts, and she enjoyed making beautiful keepsakes, especially at Christmastime. Jewel had a deep appreciation for poetry from a young age. The poem, “Only God Can Make a Tree,” was particularly special to her, and it reflects her love for the simple things in life as well as her reverence toward her Lord. Her family will also forever remember Jewel’s ability to throw wonderful birthday parties that made each one feel special. Her memory will be a blessing in the lives of those who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Walker; and five siblings, Homer Angel, Jack Angel, Polly Wilhelm, Kate Dalton, and Joe Angel.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Braswell, Donna Jhant, and Michael Walker; two grandchildren, Erica Braswell and Kyle Jhant; and one sister, Phyllis Leopard.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, and the details will be announced once finalized.
