Jesse Lee Freeman, Jr.

Jesse Lee Freeman, Jr., 74, of Marion, North Carolina, departed on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

A native of Marion, Jesse was born on June 28, 1948, to the late Jesse Lee Freeman, Sr., and Rebecca Freeman. Jesse grew up in their longtime family home off of Airport Road in Marion.  He was baptized in the old Mt Moriah Baptist Church in the 1950s when it was located on Fleming Ave.  He graduated from Mountain View High School on Hudgins Street in 1966.  After graduation, he moved to Elizabeth, NJ in 1967 and there later, he would met the love of his life, Rebecca Moore. They married on October 11th, 1969.   From their union, they had two sons, Macio and Anthony.   Jesse moved his family back to Marion, NC in the summer of 1979.  He was a dedicated worker at Collins & Aikman until his retirement in 2012. Jesse and Rebecca enjoyed their retirement years together, spending time with their families and grandchildren until Jesse started to become ill. Jesse was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather until he was called home to be with the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rebecca Moore Freeman; two sons, Macio Freeman and wife, Dr. Sherita Green Freeman of Kernersville, NC. Anthony Freeman and wife, Dr. Jasmine Watts-Freeman of New Orleans, LA.   Four grandchildren, Devin Freeman, Broderick Freeman, Khairi Finkley, and Christine Freeman; and three siblings, James Freeman (Vonda) Marion, NC, Judy Freeman Robbins (Gary) Raleigh NC, and Linda Freeman Troy (Michael) Leland, NC. He leaves behind a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service Chapel with receiving of friends from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. The repass will be hosted at Mt Moriah Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m.
