On the evening of Wednesday, November 15, 2023, Jerry Woodrow Wilson, 76, of Old Fort went to be with the Lord at Mission Memorial in Asheville.
Jerry was born in McDowell County on July 20, 1947 to his late parents, Rev. Howard Woodrow Wilson and Evie Silver Wilson. He is also preceded in death by his sons, Allen Wilson and Richard Wilson along with a sister, Shirley Elkins.
Jerry was a member of Glenwood Independent Baptist Church. He was known to always be witnessing to others about his Savior. Jerry retired from Baxter Health Care. He was an avid deer hunter and also loved to trout fish. Jerry loved his family but mostly loved the Lord.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Loretta Robinson Wilson; his daughter, Lisa Wilson Wildenberg (Todd); a brother, Roger Wilson; four grandchildren, Brooke Wilson, Brent Wilson (Autumn), Keely Wilson and Justin Painter; great granddaughter, Natalie Soeder; and great grandson, Kaelan Williams.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at Glenwood Independent Baptist Church with the Rev. T-Jay Addison, Rev. Larry Gentry and Rev. Wayne Stafford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00 until 11:00. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
