Jerry Lee Sexton

     Jerry Lee Sexton, 76, of Marion, passed away, Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Mission McDowell Hospital.

     Jerry was born in Buncombe County, NC on July 28, 1946, to the late Kenneth Hugh Sexton and Geneva Payne Sexton. Jerry was married to his wife of 40 years, Phyllis Ann Plemmons Sexton. He was of Baptist faith and a long time member of Marion Moose Lodge. Jerry played softball for Pepsi and Shoney’s and was an avid bowler. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and he loved riding horses. He enjoyed taking his walking horse to Tennessee for shows. Jerry was an excellent mechanic who loved to travel. He enjoyed taking his boat to Lake James and to the beach. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

     In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hugh Sexton, Jr.; and a sister, Ann Taylor.

     He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sexton; his children, Andy Sexton (Marcy) and Michelle Drake (Steve); his step children, Keith Jones and Chad Jones (Kim); seven grandchildren; and one great grandson.

     A funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Larry Carver will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
