Jerry Dean Parks

Jerry Dean Parks, age 68, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Charles George VA Medical Center’s Hospice & Palliative Care in Asheville.  Born in McDowell County, West Virginia on December 1, 1949, he was the son of the late Millard Parks and Shirley Dean Holt.

Having proudly served in the United States Army, Jerry was a Vietnam veteran and when able, he enjoyed taking photos of beautiful sceneries. 

He is survived by his four children, Melanie Humphries (Scott), Chris Parks (Charla), Jennifer Compton (Bryan) and Jerry Parks, Jr.; four sisters, Donna Shetley, Debbie Buckson, Teresa Greene and Anita Perkins; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Gary Webb officiating.  Interment will follow, with military honors provided by the United States Army, at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
