Jerry Winslow Finley, age 72, born on January 27, 1952, in McDowell County, departed this life on November 20, 2024, at Memorial Mission Hospital. Jerry was a beloved, father, grandfather, and friend known for his infectious sense of humor his unwavering ability to make those around him laugh.
As a US Army Veteran, Jerry served his country with honor, reflecting his deep commitment to duty and service. His military experience contributed to his strong character and resilience, traits that endeared him to many.
He attended New Covenant Church, where he found community and support. His faith was an essential part of his life, guiding him through both joyous and challenging times. Beyond his spiritual commitments, he had a passion for classic cars, often dedicating weekends to working on them and enjoying exhilarating rides in his dune buggy.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Finley; a daughter, Michelle Johnson and her husband Daniel; a son, Wayne Finley and his wife Candi; a step-son, Johnny Pendley and his wife Joyce; a sister, Linda Comer and her husband Cecil; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, who will always remember him for the warmth he brought into their lives.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Ruby Gibson Finley, as well as his daughter Amanda Miles and stepdaughter Christal Russell. Their memories are cherished and remembered fondly in the hearts of those who survive him.
Jerry Winslow Finley's life was one filled with laughter, love, and a fierce spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created with family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2024, Beam Funeral Service.
