Jean Elizabeth Williams Ward

Jean Elizabeth Williams Ward, 85, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, August 04, 2022 at Mission Hospital McDowell.

A native of McDowell County, she was born on July 02, 1937 to the late Melvin and Bessie Justice Williams.

Jean was a hard worker and retired from Baxter Healthcare. She was a member of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church. She loved flowers, and she loved everyone she came in contact with. Jean enjoyed reading, working puzzles, and watching birds. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and will be remembered for her strong faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Alvin Ward; a great grandson, Winston Louis Vess; and her siblings, James Williams (Willie), Nora Grindstaff (George), Charles Williams, Leroy Williams (Mary), and Marvin Williams (Joyce).

She is survived by her two children, Janet Ward Vess (David) and Joel Ward (Kim); two grandchildren, Rachel Weathers (Kemp) and Jennings Vess (Karlee); great grandchild, Allee Weathers; and a sister-in-law, Frances Williams.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 07, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Alan Sailors officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
