Jay B. Thomason

Jay B. Thomason, age 55, of Marion, North Carolina went home to be with his Savior on Friday, November 23, 2018 at his residence with his loving family by his side. A native of Burke County, Jay B. was born on May 16, 1963 to the late Ruth Branch Thomason.
 

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley McKinney and Wanda Evans.
 

Jay B. was a member of Yancey Street Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and deacon. He loved to go trout fishing and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved children and his friends but mostly Jesus and his family.
 

Jay B. is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Brenda Coffey Thomason; one daughter, Erica Dawn Poteat (Matt); seven siblings, Lugene King (Buster), Karen Hancock, Johnny Thomason (Debra), Nola Withrow, Tommy Thomason (Norma), Debra Collins (Jack) and Jewel Ledford (Jim). 
 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Yancey Street Baptist Church with Reverends Dean Owenby and Buster King officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Murphy's Chapel Cemetery.
