Janice "Jan" Sue Hastings

Janice “Jan” Sue Hastings, age 58, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, following an extended illness.  The daughter of the late J C and Selma Short Hastings, Janice was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on December 14, 1958.

Jan was a strong person with a big heart who loved animals.  She was a member of Big Springs United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

She is preceded in death by, in addition to her parents, one sister, Shirley Brown.

Left to cherish her memories, one daughter, Shannon Porter of Kings Mountain; one brother, James Hastings (Karen) of Boone; two sisters, Linda Black (Cliff) of Dysarstville; and Debra Lechner of Asheville; two grandchildren, Cody Sluder of Asheville; and Shane Cornwell of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
