Jamie Etta Edwards Burleson

Jamie Etta Edwards Burleson, 71, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, May 01, 2022 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville.

A native of McDowell County, she was born on June 01, 1950 to the late Coy Branscom Edwards and Florence Lorraine Washburn Edwards. She is also preceded in death by her special sister, Carolyn Duncan and brother-in-law, Hillard Duncan.

Jamie was known to all her grandchildren as “Mamie.” Her grandkids were her life, and she truly loved them all. She enjoyed birds and flowers and was always anxious to see the flowers bloom and make sure the birdfeeders were full. She was a fan of NASCAR racing, and she also liked fishing. Above all, she loved the Lord.

She is survived by her lifelong partner of over 30 years, Raymond Reid; two sons; Royce Jeffrey Ollis and Johnny Ray Burleson; a special daughter-in-law, Heather Vess; seven grandchildren, Kyle Ollis (Sonnilynn), Devon Burleson (Hannah), Preston Burleson, Caiden Burleson, Landon Burleson, Ashley Pritchard (Jeffrey), and Rainy Ollis; five great grandchildren and one on the way, Eli Miller, Maverick Pritchard, Logan Pritchard, Isaiah Ollis, Easton Burleson, and Madalynn Ollis; two brothers, CB Edwards, Jr. (Maxine) and Johnny Edwards (Linda); and several nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 04, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Dean Owenby officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Washburn Family Cemetery.
