James "Jim" Jacob Williams

James Jacob Williams (“Jim”), 70, of Marion, N.C. passed away on August 19, 2021. Jim was born on October 13, 1950, and was the son of the late James Edgar and Gretta Williams.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and had a special gift for working with his hands tying flies and creating beautiful carvings out of wood. Most of all, Jim loved his family and friends and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. He was a devoted husband to his wife of nearly 50 years and loved his son and grandchildren with all of his heart. Jim was incredibly proud of his family and put them first in everything he did in life. Jim was a loyal friend and had a natural ability to make people laugh. Jim was a dedicated team member of Coates America and retired in 2003 after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; son, Jake (Sandra) Williams; his grandchildren, Jay and Abbie; his three sisters, Joetta (Steve) Clark, Billie (Jim) Moten, and Sina (George) Honeycutt; and his nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. Jim is predeceased by his sister Nancy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service located at 2170 Rutherford Rd., Marion, NC, 28752. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service starting at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jim may be made to the McDowell County DSS Foster Fund.
