James Gaylen Vance

On the morning of Friday, February 14, 2020, James Gaylen Vance, age 86, of Marion, North Carolina passed away at his residence. A native of Mt. Hope, West Virginia, he was born on November 20, 1933 to the late William and Nanny Bennett Vance.

He is preceded in death by his wife Antoinette Giannonne Vance.

James was a member of Old Fort Church of God and was known as an expert craftsman and woodworker. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

James is survived by two children, Valerie Webb (James) and Vanessa Bartlett (Ricky); four grandchildren, Jason Webb (Ali), Timothy Webb (Elizabeth), Dustin Bartlett and Brian Bartlett; two great-grandchildren, Iva Rose Webb and Timothy Glenn Webb, Jr.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
