James “Tudy” Scott, loving brother, uncle and friend, of Nebo, passed away January 15, 2017 at the McDowell Hospital at the age of 66. Born in Burke County, North Carolina on September 24, 1950, he was the son of the late James W. and Odie Withrow Scott.
Although Tudy did not have children, he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He knew each ones’ birthday by heart and his loyalty to family was obvious in his actions. Following 30 years, he retired from Marion Fabrics. After retiring he enjoyed driving around visiting family and friends in his Blue 1983 Ford F-150.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Oretha Scott.
Tudy is survived by one sister, Violet Scott Freeman; one brother, Ronnie Scott; nieces and nephews, April Freeman Pennix, Jessica Freeman Taylor, Siletha Scott, Bryan Freeman, Ronald Junior Scott, and Gary Scott; and a number of great nieces and nephews. In addition to family he leaves behind close friends such as Virgil Poole.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Revs. Bridgette Gloster, Arell Rutherford and Herman King officiating. Interment will follow at St. John A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Nebo.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
