In the early morning hours of Friday, August 2, 2019, James “Tater” Sheehan, age 67, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville. The son of the late Thomas and Myrtle Conner Sheehan, he was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on September 2, 1951.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Kimberly Sheehan; and one brother, Billy Sheehan.
A member of State Street Church of Christ in Marion, James had a love for the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing. Following 30 plus years, he retired from Superior Machine in Marion.
James is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Sherry Sheehan; one daughter, Marlene Russ; one granddaughter, Alexandria Russ; and six siblings, Kathy Radford (Robert), Walter Sheehan, Carolyn English, Missy Bradley (Nathan), Bruce Sheehan (Candy) and Janet Ledford (Ray). He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews; and his two feline companions, “Booger” and “Sweetie”.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Will Winchester officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
