James Lee Roy Seagle

James Seagle, age 81, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Mission Hospital McDowell.  The son of the late Garland and Nora Hawkins Seagle, he was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on January 17, 1940.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Godfrey Seagle; one infant daughter, Angel RayeLeigh Seagle; one daughter, Geraldine Raye Seagle Hensley; and one son, Jerry Lee Seagle.

Known for his tinkering with wood, cars and mowers, his greatest passion was music and singing and previously served as a deacon and choir director at Redeemed Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member.   

James is survived by one daughter, Priscilla Leigh Boone (David); two grandchildren, Zachary Hensley (Jessica) and Brice Hensley (Chelsea); one great granddaughter, Elaina Raye Hensley; one daughter-in-law, Becky Seagle; three step grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Ollis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev Gerald Reynolds and Rev. Jerry McClain officiating.  Interment will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
